The Finishing Touches ...
The bell is now manually turned and the raw surface is cut away. Great care must be taken so that the lettered portion of the bell is not destroyed.
The turned bell is now ground to a fine finish. This process is also done manually, using a belt sander.
The last operation on the surface of the bell is buffing or polishing. After this procedure the holding hole is drilled and the hammer (clapper) is assembled. After one last critical visual inspection, the bell is packed and shipped to its happy owner!
